2Programmes They are also called applications. These programmes are read by the processor to carry out tasks. They are written in a code language that combines logic and mathematics. The processor then translates the programmes into “machine” language, which is made up of 0s and 1s. 12
MemoryThe processor searches through the memory to find the information needed to execute programmes, which are represented by 0s and 1s. The memory is also where the processor stores the results of its calculations.31The processor is at the heart of the device. Its job is to make the device work. The processor can be compared to a brain, but it’s much simpler because it only knows how to calculate. However, it can perform calculations at super high speed! The processor is made up of a range of miniature switches that either stop the current or let it pass through.13

Ernest removes some of the parts one by one: the keyboard, the hard disk…Some parts must be unscrewed. All parts are disassembled, even the smallest. The parts containing precious metals will be treated in another plant in order to recover these metals.23

... it’s all about EVOLUTIONInside, its body changes all by itself. How is this possible? To be or not to be an insect… I wonder…Woohoo! Here I come!I’m off. My instinct tells me I’m hungry…Robot yourself! How does it work? No one knows. That’s one of the world’s biggest mysteries…Unbelievable! It’s as if this beetle had been programmed like a robot since birth, to feed and reproduce. And incredibly, shortly after emerging from its cocoon, the rose beetle starts flying without ever learning how! Then it hides away in a cocoon and transforms into an adult insect with legs and wings. Let’s talk about a magnificent insect: the rose beetle. It starts by coming out of an egg in the form of a larva. It resembles a cute little worm!I don’t know why, but I like you a lot!And then, without anyone telling it to, the rose beetle looks for a mate of its species to make babies together. But its programme was invented by nature. That’s what we call instinct.© Bayard - ImagesDoc No.406 (2022) - Text: Bertrand Fichou; Illustrations: Jérôme Anfré.is great... Get more stories with
